After her grandmother became ill, Gudrun Snyder, a former Hollywood assistant, made the decision to pursue an acupuncture career in order to reconnect with her Chinese roots. In June 2020, she started her own company, Moon Rabbit Acupuncture, and after a year of operation, she had achieved a profit of more than $200,000. Snyder had always been interested in banking, but in 2006 she accepted a position as an agent trainee at the William Morris Agency, which brought her to the entertainment industry. Even though she loved her profession, she felt worn out and unfulfilled by it.

Snyder quit the organization when her grandmother became ill and went to Pacific College of Health and Science in Chicago to get her doctorate in acupuncture. The four-year doctoral program included 3,000 clinical hours, an exam, and other requirements. Because Pacific College had a high reputation and had a stronger foundation in conventional Eastern medicine than some of the other schools, Snyder decided to attend it. It was very important to her to be able to show her grandmother the Chinese language textbooks.

Despite the difficulties of having two kids and receiving a breast cancer diagnosis at the age of 32, Snyder remained adamant about finishing her program. Before starting her own firm, the 2017 graduate worked as an EMT and research fellow at Venice Family Clinic and Cedars Sinai Hospital. Snyder’s path to becoming an acupuncturist was not straightforward, but it was worthwhile because it allowed her to connect with her heritage and build a lucrative business around it. She is appreciative of the chance she had to work in Hollywood, but she is even happier in her current position.
